RAIMONDO TO HOST ‘MONEY SCHOOL’
July 28th event will focus on financial literacy education
Warwick — Gina Raimondo, Democratic candidate for General Treasurer, will host her first “Money School” on Wednesday, July 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Kelley Gazzero VFW Post at 1418 Plainfield St. in Cranston. The Money School is a financial literacy education initiative that Raimondo intends to continue offering through the office of the General Treasurer after she is elected.
“I firmly believe that financial literacy is the key to financial independence for both individuals and families,” Raimondo said. “Knowing how to set and meet financial goals, no matter what your resources, has the power to change lives in a real and lasting way.”
The July 28 event will include a practical and easy-to-understand curriculum that teaches attendees how to set financial goals, create a budget and calculate their own net worth. Raimondo will also teach attendees how to set up a “master file” of easy-to-access financial information, as well as discuss strategies for how individuals can keep more of their money and create an emergency fund. Attendees will also learn how to understand and obtain credit, along with other topics.
“With the right financial tools — and knowledge — Rhode Islanders can not only better manage their resources, but put their money to work for them as well,” Raimondo said.
